A Hollywood resident laid out a piece of the red carpet from the Oscars at her home

Production assistant Paige Talia decorated her apartment with a section of the red carpet she found in a dumpster near the Dolby Theatre after the awards ceremony.

The NYT reports on this.

The 32-year-old woman was looking for an affordable carpet option for her new apartment in Los Angeles. The idea came to her while walking her dog before the event began, when she saw the carpet being installed. According to Talia, she received permission from security to take a piece measuring about 4.5 square meters, which was in a clean bin near the set of Jimmy Kimmel’s show.

The material for the Oscars is traditionally made from recycled materials, and the total area of the carpet for the ceremony exceeds 4,500 square meters. Despite heavy use during the star-studded red carpet, the condition of the piece she found turned out to be satisfactory. Currently, the new owner has cleaned the carpet and is adjusting it to fit the room’s dimensions, planning to further treat the edges for longer-lasting use. Paige Talia noted that she had previously seen theater staff handing out pieces of the red carpet to audience members as souvenirs, so she decided to try to obtain such a decorative item herself.
