Electric Lucid Air Sapphire surprised with acceleration and braking test result

The Lucid Air Sapphire electric sedan outperformed the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X and the McLaren 750S in a test involving acceleration to 200 miles per hour and subsequent braking to a complete stop. According to InsideEVs, the performance tests were conducted by Car and Driver.

The Lucid Air Sapphire, a four-door, five-seat sedan, completed the 0–200–0 mph run in 25.7 seconds. That’s 6.1 seconds faster than the Corvette ZR1X and 12 seconds faster than the McLaren 750S.

The Lucid reached 200 miles per hour seven seconds earlier than the Corvette ZR1X and 13 seconds earlier than the McLaren 750S. InsideEVs notes that the Corvette ZR1X has a 1,250 k.s. V8 hybrid powertrain and is the fastest car tested by Car and Driver.

The McLaren 750S is equipped with a 740 k. s. V8 engine and is approximately 2,300 pounds lighter than the Lucid Air Sapphire. At the same time, both supercars braked from 200 miles per hour faster than the electric sedan, but the difference in each case was less than a second.

The InsideEVs author speculated that the Corvette’s result might have been influenced by its large spoiler, which generates significant downforce at high speeds. The article also notes that on a racetrack, the advantage of lower weight may favor the supercars.
