The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the call by the Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma to bomb Ukrainian cities
On August 28, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that calls by Russian State Duma Deputy Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy to create unbearable living conditions for civilians in Ukraine should serve as grounds for an international arrest warrant against him. The ministry condemned the Russian official’s statements calling for strikes on Ukrainian cities.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi on social media platform X.
The diplomat attached a video of Tolstoy’s appearance on Russian television to his post. In it, the parliamentarian from the aggressor country called for demoralizing the Ukrainian population so that they would come out with their hands raised to meet the Russian troops.
“Such statements by a Russian official, calling for war crimes and demanding intolerable living conditions for the civilian population, should lead to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court. As for ‘raised hands’—the only reason to raise them is to give Tolstoy and his fellow war criminals the middle finger,” said the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, the Russian State Duma called for the open bombing of Ukrainian cities.
Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on a facility in Kryvyi Rih.
As a reminder, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles.
Prior to that, Russia had attacked warehouses and energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
