"My Own Mother" Was Sung in Court: Ukraine Will Seek the Return of a Pensioner Convicted in Moscow
The case involves 70-year-old Svitlana Loy from the occupied city of Tokmak, whom a Russian court sentenced to 15 years in prison for transferring funds to support the Ukrainian army.
According to the Russian side, in 2024 the woman made 24 transfers totaling 63,420 rubles. The occupiers accused her of so-called “treason.”
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated that Ukraine is preparing requests to the Russian side regarding Svitlana Loy’s return, an urgent visit to see her, and obtaining information about her health and conditions of detention.

Earlier, the Russian occupation authorities sentenced a 24-year-old resident of the Donetsk region to 14 years in a maximum-security prison for allegedly passing information to Ukrainian intelligence about the deployment of Russian troops in the Donetsk region.
Previously, two residents of the Kramatorsk district were found guilty of treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Andriy Gulak, a 61-year-old resident of the Donetsk region, to 5 years and 4 months in prison. The Russian side accused the man of allegedly participating in a terrorist group due to his service in the “Azov” regiment.
