Angelina Jolie spoke about her trip to Kharkiv and the Carpathians
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie recently visited Ukraine, traveling to Kharkiv and the Carpathians. During her trip, she met with children and the families of prisoners of war.
On Instagram, the star shared her impressions of the trip to Ukraine. She noted that local communities are very supportive of the children, even in the face of constant attacks by Russia.
First, the Hollywood actress visited Kharkiv, which is located near the Russian border and comes under daily shelling. Some schools there are entirely underground. According to Jolie, this allows children to study in safety.
The actress also visited Caramel Studio in Northern Saltivka—the neighborhood hardest hit by shelling. There, children continue to practice in an underground hall even during air raid alerts.
In addition, Jolie visited the Aza Nizi Maz art studio, founded by artist Mykola Kolomiets.
“I saw children with developmental disabilities freely creating amazing works of art. In 2022, the studio moved to an underground space to stay safe,” the star said.
After that, Jolie traveled to the Carpathian Mountains. She visited the Gen.Camp Family program, which helps men who were held captive in Russia reconnect with their families. There, the actress spoke with women who were raising their children on their own and awaiting the release of their husbands.
It’s worth noting that Jolie also paid tribute to the memory of Alexei Yukov, founder of the organization “Platsdarm.” He was involved in the search, identification, and repatriation of the bodies of fallen soldiers. Unfortunately, he was killed on the front lines in August of this year.
“Despite limited resources, local organizations have found a way to continue their work under incredibly difficult conditions,” Jolie emphasized.
