Meghan Markle’s casting in The Gentlemen reportedly canceled
The casting of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, in the third season of Guy Ritchie’s series The Gentlemen has reportedly been canceled. The Guardian reports, citing Tina Brown, the former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker.
Tina Brown’s statement
Brown wrote that she learned of the withdrawal of Markle’s casting in the third season of the Netflix series on the morning of August 22. According to her, it became impossible to continue because of a strong negative reaction in the United Kingdom.
Variety reported the day before that Markle was in talks to appear in the project’s third season. At the same time, this season has not yet received official approval.

Markle’s acting career
The Gentlemen is a television spin-off of the 2019 crime comedy of the same name. The film starred Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam, while Guy Ritchie was the creator of both the film and the series.
Meghan Markle gained popularity for her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, in which she appeared for seven seasons. She also appeared in the series CSI: NY and 90210, the films Horrible Bosses and Anti-Social, and played leading roles in two Hallmark films — When Sparks Fly and Dater’s Handbook.
Recently, Markle made a cameo appearance as herself in the Amazon comedy Close Personal Friends alongside Brie Larson and Jack Quaid. Last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a new multi-year agreement with Netflix to create films and television projects.
