A former butler to Charles III spoke about the British monarch's eating habits
Grant Harold, the former butler to King Charles III of Great Britain, has revealed details of the monarch’s daily diet, which, he says, helps him maintain his health and an active lifestyle.
According to Harold, who worked with Charles from 2004 to 2011, the king never skips breakfast, but due to his busy schedule, he often skips lunch. He usually eats hard-boiled eggs for breakfast and may have half an avocado as a snack during the day.
According to the former butler, Charles followed this exact diet in 2024 as well, while undergoing treatment for cancer.
The monarch usually has dinner late—around 10:00 p.m. Darren McGrady, a former chef for the royal family, said that Charles loves mushroom dishes, which he often forages for himself at Balmoral Castle. One of his favorite dishes is mushroom risotto with organic meat.
Among the king’s other favorites is the French dish “Eggs Argente,” made with eggs, cream, spinach, and “Tanworth” and “Old Winchester” cheeses.
When it comes to beverages, Charles III prefers tea, drinking up to four cups a day. He drinks only instant coffee and adds honey instead of sugar.
