Mr P explains birthday celebration date change — Premium Times Nigeria
In Nigeria, singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, explained why he decided to celebrate his birthday on November 30 instead of November 18 — the date he shares with his twin brother Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy. The artist spoke about this in an interview for the Capital XTRA podcast, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
The brothers were born on November 18, 1981, and had previously traditionally celebrated their birthdays together. In April, Mr P said that he would no longer accept greetings or gifts on November 18 and would celebrate on November 30. At the time, he did not explain the reason for this decision.
Attention to the brothers’ relationship
According to Mr P, over many years November 18 became a day for him when people watch what he and Paul will post or say about each other. The singer also noted that his brother lives nearby, while people who communicate with both sides spread gossip.

The artist said that he wants to have a separate, personal birthday celebration that is not connected to his brother. He did not explain why he chose November 30 specifically for the celebration.
The date in documents has not changed
Mr P said that he had considered changing his date of birth in official documents, including his passport, but acknowledged that this procedure could take a long time. For now, his documents still list November 18 as his date of birth, and the change concerns only the celebration.
Peter and Paul Okoye gained popularity as members of the group P-Square. In 2017, the duo split amid disputes over careers, finances, and the role of their older brother and then-manager Jude Okoye. In November 2021, the twins publicly reconciled and began performing together again, but their reunion later ended. In 2024, Paul confirmed another breakup of the group.
