Volodymyr Hladkyy spoke about living with ankylosing spondylitis
Ukrainian actor Volodymyr Hladkyi revealed that he lives with ankylosing spondylitis, a condition considered incurable. He learned of his diagnosis this winter and is currently taking prescribed medication and exercising, as he explained on the show “Morning in the Big City.”
“I have ankylosing spondylitis now, and I’m taking medication. It’s incurable. People talk about exercise. You need to exercise more. This disease is actually very common. I only found out about the diagnosis this winter,” he shared.
Gladkyi explained that before receiving the diagnosis, he went through a difficult period due to constant pain. According to him, the severity of the symptoms can vary, but the disease can seriously affect mobility and even lead to disability. Currently, the artist manages his condition with medication and physical activity.
“Sometimes it’s milder, sometimes less severe, but it can even lead to disability. There are injections, so if we’re planning to have children, we can take a break from the medication for a while, and then we’ll decide for ourselves,” the actor explained.
