"The Sopranos" star Vincent Pastore has passed away at the age of 80
On August 1, 2026, it was announced that American actor Vincent Pastore had died at his home in New York at the age of 80. The actor gained the most fame for his role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero in the cult TV series *The Sopranos*.
New York City emergency responders, who arrived at the scene on Saturday around 2:30 p.m. local time, could only confirm his death. Police are currently conducting a standard investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Vincent Pastore rose to fame for his role as Tony Soprano’s close friend in the early seasons of *The Sopranos*. His charismatic appearance and distinctive voice made him one of the most recognizable portrayers of Italian-American gangsters in film.
Over the course of his long career, Pastore has appeared in dozens of popular films and television projects. Audiences know him well for his roles in the films *Money Train*, *Blue-Eyed Mickey*, *Revolver*, *Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn*, as well as for his role in the series *Everybody Hates Chris*.
The actor remained active in his profession until his final days. On August 8, 2026, the crime thriller *Bad News at the Door*, in which Pastore played one of his last roles, was released in U.S. theaters.
There is no official conclusion yet regarding the cause of the tragedy, but Deadline reports that the actor likely died in his sleep.
