Apples and melons are getting more expensive — how fruit prices have changed in Ukraine
As of September 14, the prices of certain fruits and berries have changed in Ukraine. Apples and melons saw the most significant price increases over the past week, while strawberries and raspberries, on the other hand, became cheaper.
According to data from the “Stolichny” market in Kyiv, apples are currently selling for 16–45 UAH per kilogram—their price has risen by 8.7%. Melons have gone up by 16.67% and cost 30–40 UAH/kg.
At the same time, strawberries have become 18.52% cheaper, now priced at 200–250 UAH per kilogram. Raspberries have also dropped in price by about 20%: depending on the seller, they can be purchased for 180–300 UAH per kilogram. Blueberries remain the most expensive berry—230–400 UAH per kilogram.
Prices for bananas, oranges, lemons, grapes, and watermelons remained unchanged. Bananas cost 60–65 UAH/kg, oranges — 50–130 UAH, lemons — 70–95 UAH, grapes — 70–120 UAH, and watermelons — 10–20 UAH/kg.
Among other seasonal fruits, apricots have dropped in price by 14.29% and now cost 60–80 UAH/kg. Pears, on the other hand, have risen in price by about 10%—they now cost 30–80 UAH/kg. Plums are selling for 70–120 UAH per kilogram.
Going forward, the hryvnia exchange rate will influence the prices of imported fruits. Pressure is expected on apple prices due to a projected larger harvest in 2026. Analysts suggest that in the second half of the season, their price may drop by 11–20%.
At the same time, no significant drop in prices for raspberries and blueberries is forecast due to the impact of spring frosts and summer heat on the harvest. Apricots, peaches, and plums may also begin to rise in price after reaching their seasonal low.
