AI robot dog inspects vegetables in Shandong greenhouses — ECNS
In a greenhouse in the city of Shouguang in China’s eastern Shandong Province, an AI-powered quadruped robot is used to patrol rows of vegetables. It is equipped with a high-resolution camera that scans plants and detects possible abnormalities, ECNS reports.
Monitoring plants and the microclimate
The robot is called “Xuanji Xingnong · Tianquan.” It was developed by Weifang Yuntuan Technology Co., Ltd. The device is equipped with an agricultural large model that combines 40 years of local farming experience and the work of more than 260 agricultural experts.
The robot is fitted with multispectral cameras and high-precision sensors. They make it possible to detect early signs of plant damage caused by pests and diseases, as well as monitor the temperature, humidity, lighting and carbon dioxide levels in the greenhouse in real time.

Managing greenhouse equipment
Wang Yihong, head of the company’s operations division, said that the robot can also coordinate the operation of spraying machines, fertilization systems, ventilation and equipment for controlling roll-up curtains. Data is sent to a server system in real time, after which the AI automatically generates cultivation decisions.
According to the company’s estimate, the device can replace more than 60% of routine inspections usually carried out by technical specialists and reduce fertilizer use by 35%.
The Jidu Co-Prosperity modern agriculture park showcases 20 types of soilless cultivation, including NFT hydroponics and substrate cultivation. Vegetables there are grown on rotating racks and in vertical towers, while an intelligent system regulates the supply of water and fertilizers, temperature and lighting. According to guide Wang Yiming, more than 85% of greenhouses in Shouguang are equipped with Internet of Things devices.
