Uyo, Nigeria, to host agribusiness conference — Premium Times Nigeria
Uyo, the capital of Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State, is set to host the fifth International Agribusiness Roundtable Conference from 25 to 28 October. Organisers expect investors, officials, farmers and agricultural business representatives to take part in discussions on opportunities to develop agricultural value chains in Nigeria.
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, the conference is being organised by the regional Nigeria Agribusiness and Agro-Industry Development Initiative and the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria, in cooperation with federal ministries and the Akwa Ibom State government.
Investment and agricultural value chains
The event’s stated theme is accelerating agribusiness transformation through the development of value chains for food security, nutrition sustainability, job creation, poverty reduction and national prosperity. According to the organisers, the conference will focus on attracting private capital, developing agro-industrial chains and creating opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses.
The programme includes an international trade pavilion, investor meetings for concluding deals, business-to-government talks, seminars and opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs and researchers to establish contacts with markets and investors. The organisers expect more than 500 industry company executives, as well as state governors, federal ministers, representatives of multilateral institutions, foreign ambassadors and financial institutions.

Development of the state’s agricultural sector
Agriculture is one of the areas of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda economic programme. It provides for the development of complete production chains for key cash crops through farming settlements and integrated farms.
In his 2026 Easter address, Umo Eno announced the strengthening of the agricultural programme through the Ibom Model Farm, agricultural grants, equipment leasing and the provision of resources to farmers. He also reported plans for an oil palm cultivation programme involving 620,000 seedlings. Earlier, state authorities said that the Ibom Model Farm, established in cooperation with Songhai Farms, is intended to promote food security and employment.
The organisers’ main announcement names Ibom Hotels & Golf Resort as the venue, but another part of the release lists Watbridge Hotels & Suites in Uyo.
