Pomegranates exported from Wenshan in China to Vietnam for the first time — ECNS
The first batch of fresh pomegranates weighing 8.5 tonnes was exported to Vietnam from the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. This was the first export of pomegranates from the region, ECNS reports, citing Kunming Customs.
Shipment clearance
The batch was inspected and cleared by Tianbao Customs, which is subordinate to Kunming Customs. Hu Zhenghua, head of an export company from Malipo County, said that the company has a 14-hectare pomegranate plantation in Yanshan County. Its annual output is approximately 420 tonnes.
According to him, the company had received inquiries from Vietnamese clients but was concerned about export procedures. After the successful shipment of the batch, the company became more confident about entering international markets.

Agricultural exports
Dai Yi, head of the audit department at Tianbao Customs, said that customs authorities had introduced simplified procedures for fresh products to ensure their timely clearance. Among the measures, he named the online issuance of inspection and quarantine certificates, as well as inspections by appointment. According to him, this helped reduce storage and logistics costs and minimize product losses.
During the first eight months of 2026, Tianbao Customs supervised the export of 9,055 tonnes of agricultural products worth 190 million yuan, or about $27.8 million. This was 190% higher in volume and 85% higher in value than in the same period of the previous year. The products were supplied to 30 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates.
