The husband of an Italian minister was found dead in a lake – Bild
In Italy, after more than five weeks of searching, divers found the body of 84-year-old Luigi Cavallari, the husband of Minister for Family, Birth Rate, and Equal Opportunities Eugenia Rocchelli. He went missing on June 27 on Lake Vico, north of Rome, while out on a rented boat, after jumping into the water.
The body was found at a depth of 18 meters, about one kilometer from where he jumped. The search operation was complicated by virtually zero visibility underwater, so rescuers used sonar and underwater robots.
According to Italian media reports, the tragedy may have been caused by cold shock, as the air temperature that day reached 40 degrees Celsius, while the lake water was very cold. Cavallari and Rocchella had been married for over 50 years.
