The Ministry of Digital Transformation accused Getmantsev of exerting pressure and engaging in manipulation
The Ministry of Digital Transformation has stated that the public statements made by Danil Getmantsev, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, are part of a campaign of political pressure and a conflict of interest surrounding the gambling market reform. The ministry believes that the criticism directed at the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the regulator PlayCity is based on manipulation and attempts to discredit them. The situation has escalated into an open public conflict with mutual accusations and lawsuits.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation stated that Danylo Getmantsev’s recent remarks regarding the work of the ministry and the gambling market regulator PlayCity bear the hallmarks of a systematic campaign against the gambling and lottery reform launched a year ago. The ministry emphasized that it views such statements as political pressure and a conflict of interest. “For nearly a year now, MP Danylo Getmantsev has been waging a systematic campaign to discredit the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. It is based on manipulation, distortion of facts, false claims, and outright lies,” reads the ministry’s official statement, published on Telegram.
Separately, the Ministry of Digital Transformation responded to a series of claims previously made by Getmantsev. Among them are claims regarding the alleged involvement of the agency’s former leadership in coordinating the CRAIL and launching the online monitoring system, as well as criticism of the licensing tenders for state lottery operators and PlayCity’s efforts to combat illegal online casinos. The ministry called these claims untrue and misleading to the public.
Meanwhile, a legal dispute between the parties is ongoing. Earlier this week, Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov filed a lawsuit against Getmantsev to protect his honor, dignity, and professional reputation. The official is represented by the law firm “Miller” and attorney Masy Nayem.
According to Nayem, the basis for the lawsuit was the deputy’s public statements on Telegram, in which he allegedly accused Bornyakov of involvement in corruption schemes, criminal organizations, the illegal distribution of licenses, and the disruption of the implementation of state digital services.
Danylo Getmantsev himself responded by stating that he welcomes the lawsuit and views it as an opportunity to publicly clarify all the circumstances. He also emphasized that he is prepared to raise in court the issues of gambling market reform, the launch of the DSOM system, the fight against gambling addiction, and sanctions against operators who violate the law. Separately, the MP noted that he wants to involve other officials in the process, including PlayCity’s management and government representatives, which further complicates an already tense conflict.
The situation is unfolding against the backdrop of a broader political standoff, in which Getmantsev has recently also sharply criticized the National Bank of Ukraine and its leadership. In response, the regulator has cited political pressure and rejected all accusations.
In fact, the conflict surrounding the gambling market has escalated into a large-scale public dispute between key state institutions, with each side insisting on its own rightness and preparing to defend its position in court. This was stated in an official announcement by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
The state agency “PlayCity” decided to revoke the licenses of two gambling operators following an audit that revealed their ties to the aggressor country. As a result, the brands Favbet Casino/Favbet Poker and Billionaire are effectively disappearing from the Ukrainian market.
