Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the EU must immediately lift sanctions against the Russian energy sector due to the threat of a major economic crisis.
According to him, the world is already facing a serious energy crisis, and Europe is “in grave danger.” Orbán believes that the only way out is the immediate lifting of restrictions.
This was his response to a statement by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who had previously criticized Budapest, particularly for blocking aid to Ukraine.
Orbán emphasized that Europe should “think not about Putin, but about its own countries and peoples,” and called for a focus on domestic interests instead of “stoking war.”
As a reminder, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán issued a decree halting the transit of natural gas to Ukraine through Hungarian territory starting in July.
Earlier, it was reported that European experts would visit the Druzhba oil pipeline in Ukraine. They are to assess the situation at the facility ahead of an important meeting of EU leaders regarding financial aid to Kyiv.
It was also reported that Ukraine accepted EU aid to repair the Druzhba pipeline.
