The U.S. Department of State has published the text of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
This was reported by the U.S. State Department.
The document stipulates that the ceasefire will take effect on the night of April 17 and will last for 10 days.
The parties agreed to work toward creating conditions for lasting peace, mutual recognition of sovereignty, and ensuring security along the shared border.
The agreement also calls for restrictions on the activities of non-state armed groups in Lebanon. Specifically, it states that only the country’s official security forces should have the right to bear arms.
The document notes that Israel and Lebanon confirm the absence of a state of war between them and agree to conduct direct negotiations mediated by the United States.
At the same time, the U.S. emphasized that Israel retains the right to self-defense in the event of threats or attacks.
Separately, it is stipulated that Lebanon, with international support, must take measures to prevent attacks by Hezbollah and other armed groups on its territory.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue to shell settlements in southern Lebanon, including the towns of Al-Khiam and Dbaybin, despite the declared ceasefire.
The day before, residents in Beirut celebrated the ceasefire by firing celebratory shots into the air.
