For Starodubtseva, this final marked her debut at the WTA level. In the decisive match, she faced world No. 5 Jessica Pegula.
In the first set, the match was evenly contested until the score was 2-2, after which the American made two consecutive breaks and confidently closed out the set 6-2.
Pegula started the second set even more convincingly, winning five games in a row. The sixth game was tense: the Ukrainian saved five match points and managed to convert a break point. However, this did not change the course of the match—in the eighth game, the American served for the match and closed out the set 6-2.
It is worth noting that Yulia became the 13th Ukrainian tennis player to reach the final of a WTA Tour event and the sixth to reach this stage in a WTA 500-level tournament!
