Taras Shevchenko was appointed chairman of the Association of Ukrainian Gaming Operators

On August 10, Taras Shevchenko was elected president of the Association of Ukrainian Gaming Operators (AUGO). He has been working in the field of government relations and public policy for over 15 years.

The decision was adopted by the Association’s general meeting at a time when the Ukrainian gambling market is entering a new phase of regulatory reform.

Among the AUOGB’s key priorities are transparent and predictable rules for the legal industry, the development of responsible gaming mechanisms, combating illegal operators, and strengthening professional cooperation between the industry and the government.

“The reform of the gambling market is not yet complete. The Association’s mission is to serve as a professional partner to the government, offering not only the business community’s perspective but also data, expertise, and concrete solutions. We need clear and uniform rules for everyone: player protection, effective measures against the illegal market, and predictable conditions for those operating legally,” noted Taras Shevchenko.

Combating the illegal segment will remain a separate focus of the Association’s work. The AUOGB emphasizes that further refinement of requirements for licensed operators must occur in parallel with systematic efforts to combat illegal operators. Otherwise, businesses that comply with the state’s regulatory and tax requirements will find themselves at a competitive disadvantage.

The Association also plans to intensify its efforts regarding responsible gaming standards, the legal industry’s access to financial services, analytical market research, and the promotion of Ukrainian iGaming on the international stage.

Earlier, Ukraine’s State Agency PlayCity initiated proceedings to revoke the licenses of the online casino Betking, which operates through the legal entity SLOTS U.A. LLC.

The PlayCity State Agency decided to revoke the licenses of two gambling operators following an audit that revealed their ties to an aggressor country. As a result, the Favbet Casino/Favbet Poker and Billionaire brands are effectively disappearing from the Ukrainian market.

It should be noted that only 2% of Ukrainians have gambled in the past month.
