Poland has stated that Ukraine is not interested in acquiring Polish MiGs — RMF24

The Ukrainian side is not currently showing any active interest in acquiring Polish MiG-29 fighter jets, the delivery of which had been discussed earlier.

This was officially stated by Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Paweł Zalevski.

This shift in priorities is affecting the current state of military-technical cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The official explained in detail that the prolonged delay in the transfer of the aircraft is due to two key factors.

First, Kyiv seeks to acquire aircraft that are fully adapted to modern combat conditions, but Warsaw is unable to cover the significant financial costs of such modernization on its own.

“The second reason is that the transfer was supposed to be reciprocal—and today we are discussing cooperation in the field of drone technology. These negotiations are not yet complete. This is more of an industry issue than a Ministry of Defense issue. I wouldn’t look for any serious problems here,” noted Paweł Zalevski during a conversation with journalists.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense, the geopolitical situation is also influenced by internal political processes within Poland itself.

In particular, this refers to public debates surrounding the naming of one of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces units in honor of UPA heroes. Some Polish politicians are exploiting this sensitive issue for their own gain during election campaigns.
