Russian rubles appear in Ternopil CCC death case

The police identified the man found dead inside the Ternopil Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support and conducted a search of his residence. The deceased was a native of Luhansk Oblast, born in 1980. Prior to the full-scale invasion, he lived in Kharkiv, and since 2022, he had been residing in Ternopil. During the search of his apartment, investigators found ammunition and Russian rubles. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

This was reported with reference to Serhiy Zyubanenko, the head of the Ternopil Regional Police.

As noted, prior to the start of the full-scale invasion, the man lived in Kharkiv, and in 2022 he moved to Ternopil. “He rented an apartment but was not registered as an internally displaced person. He had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement and led a reclusive lifestyle,” says Zyubanenko.

During searches of the man’s rented apartment, investigators seized nearly 200,000 UAH, a small amount of foreign currency, Russian rubles, and four mobile phones. Additionally, according to the police chief, a pack of ammunition for a 9mm pistol was discovered during the searches.

“According to preliminary expert conclusions, the seized cartridges may match the caliber of the bullet used in the shooting at the Ternopil TCC restroom,” he noted.

In addition, the man likely fired from a weapon modified to resemble a Fort-14 combat pistol. Law enforcement officials are separately investigating the origin of this weapon.

“It is known that the deceased’s closest relatives are in the temporarily occupied territory. This fact is also being taken into account while investigating all possible scenarios,” Zybanenko added.

In Kyiv, TCC employees will face trial over the death of a mobilized soldier.

Earlier, footage from the Kyiv terrorist’s apartment was released.

The attack took place on Saturday, April 18, when 58-year-old Dmytro Vasylchenkov opened fire on passersby on Demiivska Street, after which he took hostages at the “Velmart” supermarket. Six people were killed in the attack, and about 15 others were injured to varying degrees.

Earlier, a video appeared online showing police officers fleeing from the shooter during the terrorist attack in Kyiv on April 18, leaving civilians behind, including a child.
