A 17-year-old boy has been successfully returned from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region to territory controlled by Ukraine.
This was reported on Telegram by the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
“A 17-year-old boy has been successfully returned to territory controlled by Ukraine from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. Russian soldiers searched the boy’s home several times. They checked the messages on his phone. The boy was forced to obtain a Russian passport and was threatened for failing to report to the occupation military registration office,” the post reads.
Prokudin noted that the boy is now safe and receiving the necessary assistance.
The official noted that the boy’s rescue took place as part of the President of Ukraine’s “Bring Kids Back UA” initiative and with the assistance of the charity organization Save Ukraine.
According to him, since the beginning of 2026, 81 children have been successfully returned to territory controlled by Ukraine from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region and the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian prisoners of war transferred to Hungary did not remain there and have returned home.
