Aston Martin is recalling its Valkyrie hypercars due to a fire risk

Aston Martin has announced a recall of seven Valkyrie hypercars due to a defect in the brake cylinder. The defect could cause the system to overheat and the car to catch fire while being driven on a race track.

Aston Martin has announced a recall of its Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar. Vehicles equipped with track suspension may have a defective seal in one of the master brake cylinders.

The recall applies only to seven 2024 model year Valkyries. If the seal becomes deformed, it could cause a number of problems. Most notably, brake fluid will not return to the reservoir when the brake pedal is released. In this case, pressure in the brake system will not be released.

If enough fluid accumulates, the brakes may begin to constantly contact the brake rotor. If the rotors are already hot and the vehicle is being driven aggressively, they can become so hot that they ignite the resin in the carbon fiber rear brake cooling duct.

Fortunately, this problem can only occur under very specific conditions that are practically impossible to replicate on public roads.

According to the manufacturer, the malfunction can occur only under very specific conditions while driving on a race track: when the car is in a high-speed skid or drift, and the ESP system is actively intervening in the braking process. In such a case, due to the simultaneous action of the driver and the electronics, excess pressure may build up in the braking system, causing the brakes to lock up. No warning about the problem will appear, but the driver should feel it through the brake pedal.

The issue stems from the original design of the Valkyrie’s braking system. Aston Martin did not plan to equip the Valkyrie with ESP or an adjustable traction control system, so the system was not designed to handle simultaneous control of the brake fluid via the pedal and electronic systems.

The company first learned of the potential issue in November 2022 and immediately began working with supplier Alcon to determine the cause of the malfunction.

The root cause was identified in February 2025, after which work began on developing a solution. Just one month later, the new part was ready.

Installation of the updated component began in September 2025, and in early 2026, a special Aston Martin commission analyzed the data and recommended a recall. In late May, the company decided to voluntarily announce a service campaign for safety reasons.

Owners of vehicles affected by the recall will be asked to visit dealerships, where technicians will replace the master brake cylinder with a new version compatible with ESP and the traction control system. The repair will take up to five hours, according to Motor1.
