Hyundai unveils new Tucson in New York — Korea Herald
Hyundai Motor has unveiled the fully redesigned fifth-generation Tucson compact crossover in New York, United States. This is the model’s first full redesign in six years: the vehicle received a new exterior, an upgraded hybrid system and an artificial intelligence multimedia platform, Korea Herald reports.
Larger body and new design
The new Tucson was created in line with Hyundai’s Art of Steel design concept. The manufacturer abandoned the smoother lines of the previous generation in favor of sharper surfaces, pronounced wheel arches and a more angular silhouette.
The crossover is 4,700 mm long and 1,905 mm wide. This is 60 mm longer and 40 mm wider than the previous Tucson. The model, which Hyundai has produced since 2004, recently surpassed 10 million vehicles sold worldwide. More than 90% of Tucson sales are in markets outside South Korea, with the United States being the largest of them.

Hybrid and AI infotainment
The Tucson became Hyundai’s first SUV with the Pleos Connect infotainment platform, based on Android Automotive. The agentic AI Gleo AI supports voice commands to control vehicle functions and search for information.
In North America, Hyundai will offer gasoline and hybrid versions of the model, including the regional XRT Pro trim with all-wheel drive and equipment for off-road driving. In South Korea, the Tucson will be sold with a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine or a 1.6-liter turbo-hybrid powertrain. The hybrid produces 245 hp and, according to the company, delivers fuel economy of 17.4 km per liter.
Hyundai plans to unveil the European version of the Tucson on October 12 at the Paris Motor Show. The company is expected to announce prices later in October, before sales begin.
