Volkswagen unveils electric camper ID. California Cruise
Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. California Cruise for the European market — the first electric model in the California camper series. It was developed on the basis of the ID. Buzz Pro van, and buyers will be offered versions with a short and an extended wheelbase. Deliveries of the model in Europe are planned for 2027, InsideEVs reports.
Equipment for overnight stays
The key element of the ID. California Cruise is a two-metre bed platform with a foldable mattress. When folded, it is positioned above the rear seats. The equipment also includes ventilation inserts for the front windows and blackout blinds for all windows, including the glass roof if it is included in the configuration.
The camper received California mode, which while parked allows users to use the air conditioning or heating, charge devices and switch on interior lighting. The vehicle-to-load function allows external electrical devices to be powered through a PowerSocket adapter connected to the charging port. The package also includes a camping table and chairs.

Tourer trim for the US
Volkswagen has not provided the ID. California Cruise with a kitchen or a number of features typical of other California campers, including a pop-up roof and external work surfaces. At the same time, the company is preparing a similar concept for the United States: the updated 2027 model-year ID. Buzz will receive the Tourer trim.
The ID. Buzz Tourer will have a fold-out mattress with a platform, window blinds, ventilation panels for the front windows, an outdoor table and chairs, as well as an Overnight Mode software setting for sleeping in the vehicle. Additional equipment includes an electrochromic roof and captain's chairs. The prices of the California Cruise and Tourer have not yet been announced.
