A new overpass has opened near the Lukyanivska metro station following the Russian attack
In Kyiv, near the “Lukyanivska” metro station, a new above-ground crosswalk has been set up to serve as an alternative to the damaged underground passage following the Russian attack on the night of July 19.
The new crossing is located on Yuri Illenko Street between the metro station exit and the Artem factory. It is accessible to people with disabilities, parents with strollers, seniors, and other people with limited mobility.
The civic organization “Passengers of Kyiv” reported that the work was completed in just one day after the city authorities’ announcement.
According to the organization, this is the first at-grade crossing in the capital in 2026 that serves as a duplicate of an underground passage. Five more such crossings are planned for Kyiv this year.

On the night of July 19, Russian troops launched a ballistic strike on Kyiv. One person was killed and eight others were injured as a result of the attack. Damage and fires were reported in five districts of the capital.
Throughout the day on July 17, Russian forces launched strikes on Kharkiv and 29 other settlements in the Kharkiv region. Two people were killed and 18 others were injured as a result of the shelling; among the victims were five children.
Throughout the day on July 17, the Chernihiv region came under attack from enemy drones. Fires broke out in several districts at once, but Ukrainian rescue workers have already extinguished them.
