The director of a Kyiv high school embezzled nearly 8 million hryvnias from her staff's salaries

Law enforcement officials have completed a pre-trial investigation into the director of a state lyceum in Troyeshchyna, who is accused of embezzling public funds on a particularly large scale. The case file has been forwarded to the Desnianskyi District Court of Kyiv.

The investigation established that from 2022 to August 2025, the head of the educational institution, together with the chief accountant, paid themselves illegal “bonuses” every month. During this period, the perpetrators embezzled approximately 7.9 million hryvnias from the general payroll fund.

In addition, the investigation revealed evidence of previous fraud: the chief accountant embezzled another 3.6 million hryvnias using a similar scheme during the tenure of the previous school director. The accountant is currently in hiding abroad and has been notified of the charges in absentia.

The actions of the accused director are classified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation and embezzlement of property through abuse of official position). She faces up to 12 years of imprisonment, along with disqualification from holding certain positions and confiscation of property.
