A ceremony was held in Kyiv, at Babyn Yar, to honor the Righteous Among the Nations—Ukrainians who saved Jews during the Holocaust.

The event was attended by representatives of the “For You” Foundation, the Kyiv Jewish Community led by Kyiv’s Chief Rabbi Yonatan Markovich, as well as diplomats, politicians, clergy, and members of the public.

During the ceremony, an interfaith prayer service for peace in Ukraine was held with the participation of spiritual leaders of various religions.

Mila Tsur, Deputy Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine, emphasized the significance of the heroic deeds of those who saved Jews during the Holocaust.

“The Righteous chose humanity and morality at a time when it seemed that morality no longer existed,” she noted.

According to the Israeli memorial “Yad Vashem,” the title of Righteous Among the Nations has been awarded to 2,713 citizens of Ukraine. By this measure, Ukraine ranks fourth in the world.

The event organizers emphasized that the actual number of Ukrainians who saved Jews may be significantly higher, as many such stories have never been officially documented.

The Kyiv Commercial Court upheld the Kyiv City Council’s decision to establish the “Protasiv Yar” landscape reserve and denied the developer’s attempt to revoke this status.
