Eurosolidarity called on the Kyiv City Council to hold an extraordinary session due to the security situation
The “European Solidarity” faction in the Kyiv City Council has appealed to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, calling on him to immediately convene an extraordinary plenary session of the Kyiv City Council. This appeal was prompted by the recent massive Russian airstrikes, which, according to the council members, require immediate decisions to strengthen security in the capital.
The faction emphasized that Kyiv needs additional measures to protect its residents and ensure the stable operation of critical infrastructure amid military threats.
The council members propose bringing two key issues up for consideration:
- the state of civil defense in Kyiv, the readiness of shelters and warning systems, and additional measures to protect the population;
- comprehensive preparations for the capital ahead of the fall and winter, including ensuring the autonomous operation of hospitals, heating and water supply facilities, transportation, and other critical infrastructure.
“European Solidarity” noted that the city must be prepared for possible new attacks on the energy system, and therefore called on city authorities to promptly address issues directly related to the capital’s security and vital functions.
According to representatives of the faction, the timely adoption of necessary decisions will strengthen Kyiv’s preparedness for potential challenges and minimize risks to residents and the operation of the city’s infrastructure.
This was reported by local Telegram channels.
As a reminder, the death toll in Kyiv has risen following the massive Russian strike on the night of July 6. As of this morning, rescue workers had recovered one more body from the rubble in the Darnytskyi district, bringing the total number of victims to 19.
Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new massive attack.
It should also be noted that the Russians last launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of July 2. At that time, Russian forces launched 496 UAVs of various types and 74 missiles—air-, ground-, and sea-based—of various types at Ukraine.
