The Kyiv Funicular will resume passenger service on August 21 following scheduled maintenance. Service is scheduled to resume in the afternoon.

During the maintenance work, specialists performed comprehensive servicing of the entire infrastructure, equipment, and rolling stock. In particular, rescue workers and company specialists:

  • repaired equipment in the machine room, compressor room, and thyristor room;
  • inspected the condition of the traction cable and the contact network;
  • partially replaced the sleepers and performed non-destructive testing of the car body welds;
  • adjusted the pneumatic system, repaired the car doors, and performed painting work.

In addition, the seat upholstery in the passenger compartments was replaced, and a thorough cleaning was performed. Prior to reopening, the cars successfully passed static and dynamic tests under increased loads.

All work was performed without removing the cars—directly at stations and on the tracks—due to the specific nature of the cable system. For additional passenger safety, warning markings were updated on the station stairways.

As a reminder, Ukrzaliznytsia was urged to review passenger safety on the Kyiv Children’s Railway.

Amid systematic threats of missile and air strikes, passengers are reminded that they are prohibited from remaining at train stations, platforms, and boarding areas during an alarm. If an alarm is sounded, you must immediately proceed to the nearest shelter, and if none is available, move to a safe distance, taking cover behind concrete structures or natural terrain features away from the tracks, glass facades, display boards, high-voltage lines, and crowds of people.

As a reminder, “Ukrzaliznytsia” dismissed two conductors of the Khmelnytskyi–Kyiv train following an incident involving a 17-year-old passenger at the Fastiv station in the Kyiv region. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the case.
