Kyiv police have stepped up enforcement of parking regulations in spaces designated for people with disabilities
In Kyiv’s Desnianskyi District, law enforcement officers conducted targeted preventive measures to ensure drivers comply with stopping and parking regulations in designated parking spaces. The raids were joined by inspectors from the traffic safety department, representatives of the local veterans’ community, as well as the assistant to the head of the Kyiv City Police Department for veterans’ affairs.
The main goal of these operations is to ensure unimpeded access to infrastructure for those citizens who truly need it and to improve accessibility in the capital.
During the inspections, special attention was paid to vehicles left in designated spaces without legal grounds or the appropriate identification marks. Police officers conducted preventive explanatory conversations with offending drivers, reminding them of the importance of mutual respect on the road and the purpose of such zones for people with limited mobility. In cases of traffic rule violations, patrol officers filed administrative reports under Part 6 of Article 122 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, which provides for liability for unlawful stopping or parking in spaces designated for people with disabilities.
Under current Ukrainian law, such violations are punishable by a fine ranging from 1,020 to 1,700 hryvnias. The Kyiv Police once again urges all road users to be as attentive as possible, to follow established parking rules, and to respect the rights of others, as creating a truly barrier-free environment in the city begins with the responsible behavior of every individual driver.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
