A Kyiv utility company overpaid 1.1 million hryvnias for a wood splitter

The Dnipro District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv has filed an indictment against the chief engineer of the municipal enterprise “Darnitske Forest Park Management” for professional negligence in the procurement of a wood splitter. 

The investigation established that the official failed to check market prices for wood-splitting machines, which led to the purchase of equipment at an inflated price. As a result of these actions, the city budget suffered losses amounting to over 1.1 million hryvnias.

The penalty under the charged article provides for imprisonment for a term of two to five years. The case is currently under judicial review to establish the defendant’s guilt in accordance with the law. The amount of damages has been confirmed by the materials of an investigation conducted as part of oversight of budget fund usage.
