The Kyiv Metro has clarified when an additional fee is required for transporting seedlings

In the spring, the number of passengers carrying young trees and shrubs on the Kyiv Metro traditionally increases, particularly at the "Lisova" station. The Kyiv Metro reminds passengers that the transport of plants is subject to specific rules regarding their height and packaging.

This was reported by the company’s press service.

According to the rules, plants up to 150 cm tall are transported free of charge, while seedlings between 150 cm and 220 cm in height require the purchase of an additional ticket costing 8 UAH. Transporting plants taller than 220 cm on the subway is prohibited. Checkpoint staff have the right to measure dimensions and refuse entry to passengers whose luggage exceeds the permitted limits.

For safety, seedlings must be properly packed in protective film, mesh, or boxes, and their roots must be secured. Such packaging helps prevent injury to other people and damage to the plant itself. While Kyiv residents are preparing for the summer cottage season, the Russian economy continues its systematic decline, officially entering a recession under the pressure of sanctions and military spending.

The Kyiv Metro plans to carry out a major renovation of the tunnel between the “Taras Shevchenko” and “Pochaina” stations. The total estimated cost of the work is approximately 1.84 billion hryvnias.

Kyiv plans to review public transportation fares. The mayor of the capital announced this, noting that relevant departments must prepare new calculations based on economic justification. If the decision is approved, new fares may be introduced for both the metro and surface transportation.
