The left bank of Kyiv lost power due to a power grid failure
On the evening of March 21, 2026, power and water supplies were cut off in some buildings on the left bank of the capital.
According to the Kyiv City State Administration, the incident was caused by a network failure, which power engineers are currently working to resolve. Due to the lack of power in the contact network, service was suspended on more than ten tram and trolleybus routes, including Nos. 8, 22, 28, 29, 30, 31, 37, 47, 50, and others.
Power outages began to be reported around 10:00 p.m., immediately affecting public transportation and utility services in several districts. Kyivpastrans confirmed delays in ground electric transportation, noting that power is out across significant sections of the network. This situation arose amid ongoing energy challenges caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Restoration work is currently underway to restore power to residential buildings and resume public transportation schedules.
On Sunday, March 22, no power outages are expected in Ukraine—electricity will be available around the clock in all regions.
