The court has banned the use of land in Gorenka as a landfill

In the Kyiv region, a court ordered the cessation of the use of a plot of land in the village of Gorenka as an unauthorized landfill following the intervention of environmental prosecutors.

The case involves 8 hectares of land that a company had leased for the reclamation of a disused quarry. Instead, the area was actually used for dumping waste, which led to fires and a strong odor and posed a health risk to local residents. The site is located next to a kindergarten and a body of water.

In November 2025, residents of Gorenka appealed to the Office of the Prosecutor General after the company filed a lawsuit demanding that the lease be extended for another 10 years.

The Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office joined the case and proved in court that the land was being used for purposes other than its intended use and that there were no grounds for extending the lease.

On April 23, 2026, the Commercial Court of Kyiv Oblast denied the company’s claim.

Once the decision becomes final, the company will lose the right to use the plot, which means it will no longer be used as a landfill.

As a reminder, in Odesa, the SBU detained three Russian agents who were planning terrorist attacks.

Additionally, a commander in the Kyiv region was exposed for extorting money from his subordinates.
