The tunnel between Pochayna and Taras Shevchenko stations, which does not have a metro stop, will be renovated

The Kyiv Metro will carry out scheduled major repairs on the tunnel section between the “Pochayna” and “Taras Shevchenko” stations. The work will last up to 23 months, but there are no plans to suspend train service on the Blue Line.

Both stations will operate as usual. However, schedule changes are possible during certain phases, including longer nighttime maintenance windows and adjustments to train intervals on weekends.

The repairs will be carried out in two phases. First, soil stabilization, repairs to the tunnel structures and tracks, and the relocation of utility lines will be performed. In the second phase, a modern system for monitoring the technical condition of the structure will be installed.

The project cost is 1.76 billion hryvnias.

Metro officials emphasize that there is no threat to train service. The need for repairs was identified following a technical inspection, as the tunnel, built between 1978 and 1980, operates under challenging hydrogeological conditions.

Following one of Russia’s most intense nighttime attacks on Kyiv on August 5, elevated levels of air pollution were recorded in the capital. The situation is worst in the western and eastern districts of the city, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached unhealthy levels.

Following Russia’s massive attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the threat of air pollution persists. The Ministry of Health advises people to spend less time outdoors, close windows and doors, and take steps to protect their respiratory tracts. It is especially important to monitor your health and respond immediately if you experience breathing difficulties.
