In the Kyiv region, an official was detained for demanding half of the compensation for "e-Restoration"

Law enforcement officials have exposed an official from one of the village councils in the Kyiv region who demanded half of the state compensation from the victim for housing damaged as a result of Russian aggression.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, the official demanded 260,000 hryvnias from the man—50% of the compensation received under the “e-Recovery” program—in exchange for ensuring the smooth processing of the payment.

To conceal the scheme, the official enlisted the help of a business associate. The victim was asked to transfer the money to the associate’s account under the guise of payment for alleged repair work.

After the funds were transferred, the official and his accomplice were detained.

The official was charged with receiving an unlawful benefit combined with extortion, and the businessman with aiding and abetting.

The court imposed a pretrial detention measure on both, with the possibility of bail.
