In the Fastiv District of Kyiv Oblast, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of setting fire to a grocery store. The building was completely destroyed in the fire.
The incident occurred in the village of Didivshchyna. A local resident contacted the police to report a fire at the store located on one of the village streets.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers determined that a 54-year-old local resident was involved in the arson. According to the investigation, the man set the building on fire using paper scraps and matches.
As a result of the fire, the store was completely destroyed. No one was injured.
The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Fastiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him that he was suspected of intentionally destroying another person’s property by arson.
The court ordered the man to be held in custody as a preventive measure. The penalty under this article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
