A petition calling for the discontinuation of alarm announcements over loudspeakers in Kyiv did not receive enough votes

A petition calling for the cancellation of air raid siren announcements broadcast over loudspeakers in Kyiv did not receive the required number of votes to be considered.

This is according to data on the Kyiv City Council website.

The initiative was registered on February 23, but as of April 24, it had received only 209 signatures out of the required 6,000.

The petition’s author noted that repeated audio alerts are unnecessary, cause irritation, and can negatively affect residents’ mental well-being. It was also proposed to lower the volume of the signals and limit them to a single announcement for both the start and end of the alert.

This is not the first such initiative—a previous petition calling for a less aggressive “all-clear” signal also failed to garner the necessary support.

A nighttime attack by Russia damaged a facility in the Kyiv region.

In Kherson, four people were injured in a drone attack on a hospital.
