Following the Russian attack, vendors are returning to the Lukyanivsky Market in Kyiv

In Kyiv, vendors are gradually returning to the historic Lukyanivsky Market, which was severely damaged by a Russian attack on May 24. Despite the destruction and the aftermath of the shelling, people are trying to resume trading and return to their normal lives.

This was reported by Suspilne.

During a massive Russian attack on the night of May 24, Lukyanivka suffered significant damage. A metro station was damaged, the “Kvadrat” shopping center was destroyed, part of the market burned down, and surrounding residential buildings were also damaged.

Currently, utility services continue to work at the site, but residents of the area are gradually returning to their daily lives. According to journalists, vendors—mostly people of retirement age—are reappearing in the area near the market.

Due to the destruction of market stalls, informal street vending has begun to flourish around the market. People explain that they cannot wait for the market to be fully restored, as they have been left without an income.

Local residents and vendors note that even after the shelling, they are determined to keep working, as for many, the market remains their sole source of income.
