Police have caught a former manager of a Kyiv park embezzling one million hryvnias

Investigators in Kyiv have charged the former director general of the capital’s Central Park of Culture and Recreation.

This was reported by the Kyiv Police.

The official organized a corruption scheme involving the purchase and subsequent illegal write-off of the “Labyrinth” attraction. As a result of his actions, the city budget lost over 1 million hryvnias.

As law enforcement officials established during the investigation, the perpetrator purchased expensive equipment using funds from the local community.

However, the attraction was never installed over the course of several years and was never used for its intended purpose. The property was simply kept on the company’s books as a formal asset.

To conceal the lack of results from the procurement, the official devised a plan to remove the property from municipal ownership.

He prepared fictitious documents regarding the alleged transfer of the “Labyrinth” to another municipal facility—the “Hydropark.” In reality, the equipment was never transported anywhere, and the transfer documents were forged.

After creating the appearance of a transfer, the attraction was unjustifiably written off the Central Park’s balance sheet. Thus, the property effectively disappeared from the city’s ownership without any legal procedure.

An expert assessment confirmed that the Kyiv community suffered direct losses amounting to over 1 million hryvnias.

Investigators from the Pechersk Police Department, in cooperation with SBU personnel, uncovered the scheme.

The Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the proceedings in the case. Measures are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify any possible accomplices of the suspect.

As a reminder, a group of SIM card fraudsters was exposed in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Also, in Sumy, a brothel operating out of a hostel was uncovered, where a minor girl was being recruited.
