The prosecutor's office has challenged the transfer of land in Peremoha Park for development

The Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has filed a lawsuit seeking to revoke the state registration of a land plot in Peremoha Park and to rule that the commercial company has no right to use it for development. 

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

The subject of the legal dispute is a plot of land covering nearly 0.3 hectares in the Dnipro district of the capital, on which the well-known “Kryzhinka” ice arena is located. Law enforcement officials have determined that this land is intended exclusively for recreational use and is officially part of the city’s culture and recreation park.

For over 40 years, the “Kryzhinka” ice rink has served as one of Kyiv’s main sports facilities for training students from children’s and youth sports schools in hockey and figure skating. Today, it remains one of the few operational indoor ice rinks in the city. Despite this, in 2022, the co-owners of the rink unlawfully registered the plot under the facility in the State Land Cadastre, changing its designated use to “land for the construction and maintenance of administrative and office buildings.”

To prevent the demolition of the sports facility and the illegal construction of office centers within the protected park zone, the prosecutor’s office initiated legal proceedings to overturn the illegal registration. The court case to restore the land to its original recreational status is currently ongoing.

Previously, the appellate court overturned the illegal decision of the Bucha District Council, and the 3,000-hectare Bilychansky Forest was returned to the Kyiv community.

Also, after nearly five years of legal proceedings, a complex of historic buildings dating from 1830 to 1910, located in the historic part of Podil near Zamkova Hill, was returned to the Kyiv community.
