A residential building in Kyiv has been without gas for over two weeks due to inspections

Residents of an apartment building in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv have been without gas for more than two weeks following an inspection conducted due to a gas leak in one of the apartments.

This is stated in a collective appeal from the building’s residents.

According to the residents, the emergency service responded to a call on May 7 regarding a gas leak; however, after an inspection, specialists reported issues with draft in the ventilation ducts of several apartments and completely cut off the building’s gas supply. Subsequently, representatives of the relevant services conducted additional inspections and identified a number of violations, including exhaust fans installed in rooms with gas water heaters, non-compliant connecting pipes, and other technical issues.

Residents were informed that to restore gas service, all identified deficiencies must be corrected and the relevant inspection reports must be provided. At the same time, according to residents, they were immediately offered paid services on-site to retrofit their apartments.

People also point out that as recently as February of this year, the building underwent an official inspection of its ventilation and exhaust systems, which found no problems. Now residents are demanding an explanation as to why the situation has changed so drastically in just a few months.

Residents have already filed complaints with the NEURC, law enforcement, and anti-corruption agencies, alleging possible abuses and delays in the process of restoring gas supply.
