The fare from Irpin to Kyiv has risen to 80 hryvnias

The fare from Irpin to Kyiv has risen to 80 hryvnias

The cost of public transportation connecting Irpin and other satellite cities with the capital rose significantly in early April 2026.

According to new announcements on buses, the fare for the Kyiv–Irpin route is now 80 UAH, which has sparked outrage among passengers.

The updated fares cover several popular routes within the Irpin community.

A trip from Kyiv to the Vodokanal or Romanivka neighborhoods will now cost 60 UAH, while the fare for travel within the city itself is set at 20 UAH.

The fare increase has sparked heated discussions in local Facebook communities.

The main complaint from suburban residents concerns the de facto monopoly of private companies and the lack of municipal alternatives on routes to the capital.

“The fare increase for route taxis has sparked active discussion among suburban residents,” eyewitnesses note.

People emphasize that despite many years of urban development, the authorities have still not managed to launch a municipal bus route to Kyiv.

A similar situation with rising prices is observed throughout nearly the entire Kyiv region. In particular, residents of Vyshneve and Novi Petrivtsi now also pay 80 UAH, while a trip from Bucha, Hostomel, or Horenychi costs passengers 95 UAH.

The highest prices are on long-distance routes: residents of Vorzel and Boyarka pay 100 UAH, and a trip from Boryspil or Nemishaieve costs 130 UAH.

For residents of remote settlements, such as Kodra or Nove Zalissia, the price reaches 185 UAH one way.

Carriers traditionally justify these unpopular measures by citing rising costs for fuel and vehicle maintenance.

However, passengers complain that service quality isn’t improving along with the price, and the condition of many vehicles remains unsatisfactory.

As a reminder, car towing services in Kyiv will become more expensive starting April 15 due to rising fuel prices.
