In Kyiv, inflated electricity prices caused budget losses of more than 3.2 million hryvnias
The Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv filed a lawsuit with the capital's Commercial Court over an illegal increase in electricity rates for the Shevchenkivskyi District State Administration's Department of Education.
In 2024, the department entered into a contract with a private company for the supply of electricity. Subsequently, the parties signed a series of supplementary agreements that repeatedly increased the price.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the price increases were not adequately justified by market price fluctuations and exceeded the limits established by law. As a result, the budget overpaid more than 3.2 million hryvnias.
The prosecutor’s office is asking the court to declare the additional agreements invalid and to recover the unduly paid funds into the budget.
The Kyiv Commercial Court has already opened proceedings in the case.
