In Kyiv, a former client took revenge on a psychologist by setting his car on fire
On July 27, in Kyiv’s Podilsky District, law enforcement officers detained a man who set fire to the car of a psychologist working for a nonprofit organization. According to the investigation, the motive for the crime was dissatisfaction with the specialist’s work. This was reported by the Kyiv Police.
The incident occurred on Vyshhorodska Street. The police received a report of a fire in a BMW X5 SUV. Patrol officers and State Emergency Service rescuers quickly arrived at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the perpetrator smashed the car’s window with a hammer, then threw a bottle containing a flammable mixture into the passenger compartment and fled. The vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the arson.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers determined that the vehicle was being driven by a 46-year-old Kyiv resident who works as a psychologist at a nonprofit organization.
Operatives from the Podil Police Department, working together with criminal analysis officers, identified the suspect in less than half an hour. He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of the capital who had previously been a client of the psychologist and, according to investigators, decided to seek revenge due to dissatisfaction with the services provided.
The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and was notified of his status as a suspect under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—intentional destruction or damage to property. The penalty under this article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
