Five schools in Kyiv will not be fully renovated by the start of the school year
Schools in Kyiv will begin the new school year on September 1; however, at some schools that were damaged by Russian attacks, classes will be held in a hybrid (in-person and remote) format due to ongoing repairs.
Currently, restoration work is underway in the capital at 47 schools and 41 kindergartens that were damaged by Russian attacks.
As of August 13, it became known that five schools will not be able to fully complete all repairs before the start of the school year.
These are:
- School No. 101 in the Shevchenkivskyi District;
- School No. 73 in the Shevchenkivskyi district;
- School No. 199 in the Shevchenkivskyi District;
- Lyceum No. 160 in the Darnytskyi District;
- Special School No. 10 in the Darnytskyi District.
At these institutions, classes will be held both in person and remotely, and renovation work will continue alongside classes.
The Kyiv City State Administration noted that the final format of operations for each school will be determined based on the security situation and the actual condition of the building as of September 1.
Since the start of the full-scale war in Kyiv due to Russian aggression, 314 educational institutions have been damaged. In 2026 alone, 107 educational facilities were damaged.
City officials emphasize that the situation remains fluid due to the constant threat of new Russian attacks. Therefore, if necessary, the format of instruction at individual schools may be adjusted even after the start of the school year.
