An investigation has been launched in Kyiv into a police officer's conduct
An internal investigation has been launched in Kyiv into a police officer’s conduct during public safety announcements. Law enforcement officials saw a video on social media in which, according to them, a police officer spoke to a citizen in an inappropriate and disrespectful manner.
The Kyiv Police launched an internal investigation after a video featuring one of their officers appeared on social media. Law enforcement officials discovered the video while monitoring social media. The recording captures a conversation between a police officer and a citizen during public safety announcements. The police noted that the officer’s conduct was inappropriate and disrespectful.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred several days ago in the Podilsky district of Kyiv. After the video came to the attention of the police, the leadership of the Kyiv Police Department ordered an internal investigation. The investigation is intended to establish all the circumstances of the situation and assess the officer’s actions.
The police did not disclose details of the conversation itself nor specify what decision might be made based on the results of the investigation. At the same time, the Kyiv Police Department emphasized that such behavior by police officers is unacceptable. “Any instances of inappropriate or disrespectful behavior by officers are unacceptable and do not comply with the principles of professional police conduct,” the Kyiv Police stated.
Thus, at this stage, the matter concerns an internal investigation rather than a confirmed violation by the police officer. A final assessment of his actions will be made following the investigation. The police also reiterated the behavioral requirements for their officers. While performing their duties, they must interact with citizens in a polite and respectful manner. The results of the internal investigation will determine whether the police officer’s actions constituted a violation and whether he should face disciplinary action. This was reported by the Kyiv Police Communications Department.
