Celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, organized by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, took place in Kyiv. The event served as a symbol of the strong partnership between the two countries and an opportunity to once again emphasize their shared values—freedom, democracy, and human rights.

During the celebration, participants honored the history of the United States and the friendship between the American and Ukrainian peoples. The embassy noted that the event served as a reminder of the importance of cooperation in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, education, investment, and the development of people-to-people ties.

In his speech, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Daniel Bischof emphasized that the celebration was dedicated not only to the 250thth anniversary of American independence, but also to the strong ties between Ukrainians and Americans who are working together to build a better future.

“Tonight we are celebrating not only 250 years of American independence, but also the bonds between Americans and Ukrainians who are building a better future together,” the diplomat noted.

The festive evening began with a ceremonial presentation of the U.S. national flags by members of the U.S. Marine Corps. The event also featured performances of the national anthems of the United States and Ukraine by singer Christina James, the Lysenko Music School Choir, and the Alliance Brass Quintet of the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe and Africa Orchestra and Choir.

The U.S. Embassy emphasized that the celebration served as yet another affirmation of the enduring friendship between the two nations and their shared commitment to the ideals of freedom, self-government, and democracy.

This was reported by the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.

As a reminder, the heat wave in the U.S. disrupted Independence Day celebrations.
